Inversions Counselling provides the following services for adults, with weekday appointments available between 9am-3.30pm.

Individual Counselling

My particular interest is working with adults where there has been abuse and/or neglect earlier in life. Symptoms such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction and grief are common challenges for survivors.

An individual session goes for 50-60 minutes and the cost is $110.

Relationship Counselling

Healthy relationships are critical to wellbeing, yet we can struggle in our most important relationships. Sensitive support is required for unlearning negative relational patterns and attending to the feelings and beliefs driving them.

My initial pathway for relationship counselling is to have a joint meeting with those in the relationship for one session, then an individual session with each person (one session each) and then another joint session. This assessment begins a process of appreciating the unique complexities of each relationship.

A relationship counselling session goes for 50-60 minutes and costs $160.

Group Work/Psychoeducation

I have designed and facilitated the ‘Safety Within’ program which provides teaching on traumatic memory and symptom management in a group setting. I have also presented pre-marriage education workshops and facilitated support groups for people living with anxiety and depression. Group size and cost is negotiable.

Diversity

I have direct experience with the highs and lows of caring for others with neurodiversity.  Such first-hand insight allows me to have an affirming stance towards various realms of diversity whilst understanding the often underappreciated challenges that can present.

✺ Frequently Asked Questions ✺

  • If you have private health insurance extras cover that includes counselling you may be eligible for a rebate from them. Please check with your fund.

Medicare rebates are not available for counselling services at this time. If you have a Mental Health Care plan from your GP, a limited number of sessions may be subsidised by Medicare for services provided by a Psychologist or Mental Health Social Worker, however this does not apply to relationship counselling.

  • Yes for Self Managed or Agency Managed participants where funding for counselling is included in your plan.

  • All sessions are 50-60 minutes duration. Individual sessions are $110, relationship counselling is $160

and NDIS sessions are $156.16 (in line with the current NDIS price guide and consideration of higher administration requirements). You are welcome to pay via card, cash or bank transfer.

  • This is highly variable depending on individual history and mental health challenges. A likely scenario is to engage weekly or fortnightly over 3-6 sessions but more complex presentations can see this frequency continue for 6-12 months. Some clients choose ongoing care by having a follow up session when needed. My aim is to be very collaborative with you in the process. There is no obligation to continue counselling at any stage.

With relationship counselling there is an assessment period; a joint session, an individual session with each partner and another joint session. Some people feel their relationship is in a better place after 4-8 sessions however it is more common for 20-25 sessions to take place in the course of our work together. It can take time to dismantle old relational patterns and repair long standing hurts. Learning new ways of relating requires patience and repetition.

  • Inversions Counselling specialises in intimate partner relationships where the intention is to strengthen emotional connection to build greater intimacy, fulfilment and longevity. This includes consideration of sexual issues. Engaging with emotion can be like learning a new language for some, requiring sensitivity and patience. The benefit of this investment is the relational enrichment that follows.

Relationship ruptures such as affairs can be painful and difficult to repair. What you will receive from me is wholehearted engagement and support in these vulnerable places.

Please note that Inversions Counselling does not specialise in Family Violence. Please seek help from services such as Centre For Non-Violence Inc or The Orange Door Bendigo. You can also call 1800RESPECT for immediate consultation. Inversions Counselling is not a mediation service in the event of separation, nor is it equipped to provide financial counselling.

  • Yes. We enter a contract around your consent to share and confidentiality to be upheld. Before doing so I will discuss with you exemptions to confidentiality; these being any concern for safety, the professional mandate I have for supervision and in the event of documentation being subpoenaed to court. Any sharing of information otherwise will require your express written consent. Please note that I am obligated to report abuse under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.

Prior to meeting with you I will forward more information about confidentiality and other aspects of Inversions Counselling as part of obtaining your informed consent. My aim is to be as transparent with you as possible and invite discussion of any concerns you may have.

  • Whilst I draw on insights from a number of different approaches, the models I gravitate towards are Emotion Focussed Therapy and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I enjoy how these models integrate with my interest in Attachment Theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology and Neuroscience concepts and they are also a natural fit with me being a highly empathic person.

I have also trained in Radical Exposure Tapping which is a modality for working with traumatic memory; helpful for some clients experiencing PTSD and compulsions.

  • Yes I offer Zoom online counselling with end-to-end encryption for enhanced security.
