Privacy Policy

Copyright

Inversions Counselling is committed to providing quality services to you. This policy outlines how your personal information is managed.

What information is collected?

By making contact with Inversions Counselling, your name, phone number and email address is acquired. Once contact is made with you, further information will be provided to obtain your informed consent for entering a counselling contract. This requires additional personal information which will be obtained directly from you, for example your date of birth and current address; important for correct identification in the event of an emergency. Inversions Counselling does not hold any financial information of clients.

Why collect the information?

Information is necessary to provide the most appropriate support. I reserve the right to withdraw services if I believe this is being compromised by insufficient information or inability to meet legal obligations.

Where information is obtained from a third party, express written permission will be obtained from you.

Sensitive information obtained in the course of counselling is stored separately from identifying information and is for the purpose of professional documentation and monitoring.

In some instances you may be asked for permission to video record a session. This is for the sole purpose of professional development and acquisition of further qualifications; once reviewed by myself or assessors the recording is deleted. Written consent is obtained for this and there is no obligation to give permission.

How will my information be managed?

At Inversions Counselling, personal and medical information is managed in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) and Healthcare Identifiers Act 2001 (Commonwealth Privacy Policy). For more information on these standards or to make a complaint, a useful resource is The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at https://www.oaic.gov.au

Security and Accuracy

Inversions Counselling takes reasonable steps to ensure that your information is protected from misuse, loss, unauthorized access, modification or disclosure. Please ensure that information is correct and current.

Personal information is kept for a minimum of 7 years. After such time it may be removed.

Access to Information

You have the right to access to your information under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) although this does have some exemptions.

If you would like to access or your information, please first discuss this with me. The request will then be required in writing.
